Steve Jobs brought a lot of magic to the world. -Artie<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Apple Pie&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>A long, long time ago,<br \/>\nI can still remember when the UNIX prompt could make me smile.<br \/>\nAnd when the login didn&#8217;t fail,<br \/>\nWe all could check if we had mail<br \/>\nAnd we would all be happy for a while.<\/p>\n<p>But Cupertino&#8217;s press releases<br \/>\nDashed October hopes to pieces:<br \/>\nBad news at the keynote.<br \/>\nIt seems that&#8217;s all that she wrote.<br \/>\nI almost gave in to despair<br \/>\nWhen I thought about the market share<br \/>\nAnd nothing in the world seemed fair<br \/>\nThe day the UNIX died.<\/p>\n<p>So bye-bye, Mr. iApple Pie<br \/>\nWhile the press reads RSS feeds, RSS feeds reply.<br \/>\nThe blogosphere is toasting mud in your eye<br \/>\nAnd saying &#8220;This&#8217;ll be the day that I die.<br \/>\nThis&#8217;ll be the day that I die.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Did you write the native code<br \/>\nAnd do you chmod the [options] mode<br \/>\nIf the README tells you to?<br \/>\nDo you believe in plug and play?<br \/>\nWill iPhone work with Sprint someday?<br \/>\nDo you remember when the hammer flew?<\/p>\n<p>Well I know your modem&#8217;s preinstalled<br \/>\n&#8216;Cause your line was busy when I called<br \/>\nYou need a separate jack<br \/>\nTo plug it in the back.<\/p>\n<p>I was a high faluting network deb,<br \/>\nWith a fast connection to the World Wide Web,<br \/>\nBut I knew I was at low ebb<br \/>\nThe day the UNIX died.<\/p>\n<p>I started Tweeting:<br \/>\n&#8220;Bye-bye, Mr. iApple Pie<br \/>\nWhile the press reads RSS feeds, RSS feeds reply.<br \/>\nThe blogosphere is toasting mud in your eye<br \/>\nAnd saying &#8216;This&#8217;ll be the day that I die.&#8217;<br \/>\nThis&#8217;ll be the day that I die.'&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>So there were all in one place<br \/>\nIn Generation Cyberspace<br \/>\nControl-splat-on to start again&#8230;<br \/>\nWhen Doctor Newton warned us to pay heed<br \/>\nIn a note, which no one here could read,<br \/>\n&#8216;Cause Isaac is a devil with a pen.<\/p>\n<p>And as we watched in ninety-five<br \/>\nFew die-hard fans were left alive<br \/>\nNo angel born in Hell<br \/>\nCould guard those Gates so well.<\/p>\n<p>And as the rebels welcomed back their Jobs<br \/>\nHe laid off hordes of angry mobs<br \/>\nThe whole valley shook with sounds of sobs<br \/>\nThe day the UNIX died.<\/p>\n<p>They were Tweeting:<br \/>\n&#8220;Bye-bye, Mr. iApple Pie<br \/>\nWhile the press reads RSS feeds, RSS feeds reply.<br \/>\nThe blogosphere is toasting mud in your eye<br \/>\nAnd saying &#8216;This&#8217;ll be the day that I die.&#8217;<br \/>\nThis&#8217;ll be the day that I die.'&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>I met a girl named Bondi Blue<br \/>\nAnd I asked if she liked iPad 2<br \/>\nBut she just smiled and turned away.<br \/>\nI went down to the Apple Store<br \/>\nWhere I&#8217;d bought my PowerBook G4<br \/>\nBut the man there said that iTunes wouldn&#8217;t play.<\/p>\n<p>And in quick time, the headlines flashed.<br \/>\nThe fail whales flew, the servers crashed.<br \/>\nThe home page simply stated:<br \/>\n&#8220;His network signal faded.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>And the one man who defined our age<br \/>\nHe wrapped his keynote, left the stage,<br \/>\nAnd &#8220;liked&#8221; his cloud computing page<br \/>\nThe day the UNIX died.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve been using and loving Apple products since I bought my Macintosh IIsi 3MB\/40MB in 1994 with my babysitting\/yardwork money.
